Pregnancy consultations

While I am a trained obstetrician and absolutely enjoy following patients during their pregnancy, I am not currently offering birthing services due to logistical reasons. I am, however, available for pre-conception counseling visits, expert prenatal consultations, or surgical procedures you may need during pregnancy.

Cerclage placement

For patients at risk of second-trimester pregnancy loss or preterm birth due to cervical insufficiency, a cervical cerclage can be a helpful option. This procedure involves placing a stitch to support the cervix and reduce the risk of early dilation

Dilation and Evacuations, or 2nd trimester terminations

Dilation and evacuation is a procedure sometimes needed in the second trimester, either for medical reasons or personal choice, done while you are asleep. In France, elective terminations can be performed up to 16 weeks but terminations due to medical reasons can be at a later gestation. If you ever find yourself in this very difficult position, another layer of complexity to navigate is that not every obstetrician in France is trained in this procedure after 12 weeks and you may be offered an induction of labor in a maternity ward. I believe having a choice between different procedures is important, so I offer this service for those who desire it.

“Elective” C-sections

One common difficulty you may have in France as an expat is discussing birthing options after you have already had one prior cesarean delivery. While many people are eligible for a TOLAC (trial of labor after cesarean), others may not want this option and instead desire a planned C-section. Making this choice in an informed way is important, since your 2nd birth will heavily determine your future ones (if you are planning for more)! I offer consultations on this topic for those who desire a 2nd opinion.

Infections during pregnancy

As an obstetrician-gynecologist trained in reproductive infectious diseases, one of my main clinical focuses is infections that can occur during pregnancy and pose a risk to either mom or baby, such as HIV, Hepatitis, Syphilis, CMV, chickenpox, etc. Because of their stigmatized nature at times, these conditions can provoke a lot of stress and anxiety during pregnancy. My goal is to provide clarity and evidence in order to break down existing myths, ensuring that you have the necessary treatment to have a pregnancy just like any other.
